On Tuesday, at 5 a.m., Yuriy Kysil and Mykhailo Poshelok set out on the road. The initial plan was to drive to the town of Izium and deliver food to the residents. However, they were unable to enter the city itself, as neither volunteers nor the press were allowed there, as the city was being cleaned up. So the guys stopped in the village of Savintsy (Kharkiv region), a few kilometers from Izium. There they met with our brothers and sisters in the local church.
Yuriy and Mykhailo had the opportunity to talk to the wife of the pastor of this church. She briefly told them about what happened during the occupation of the city. For 7 months, people lived without water and electricity, cooking on fire with what was left. Prices in grocery stores were very high. Bread cost about 50 UAH, sausage 700-800 UAH, sugar 70 UAH. People lived in constant danger under the pressure of the Russian military. Men and women could not walk through the city from 2 p.m. because they could be arrested at any time, and people were constantly disappearing and not returning for up to two weeks. Many were taken to the so-called bases in Izium and Balakliya. There they kept 7-8 people in cramped cells. They were tortured and interrogated in front of many witnesses.
A woman said that her husband, a pastor of a local church, was taken by the military for interrogation about 12 times. A lot of locals have not returned to their homes yet, and no one knows where they are now.
Almost the whole village was destroyed, houses were destroyed, but it was a great blessing that not a single shell hit the house of the pastor's family. The House of Prayer is also intact.
The woman said that during this time the church consisted of 23 members, despite the danger and pressure from the military, everyone gathered in the House of Prayer every Sunday for services. Now the city is liberated and the church continues to operate. Today they will celebrate the harvest festival in their House of Prayer, and the whole church will thank the Lord for the harvest.
In general, our volunteers left food packages and hygiene products at the House of Prayer. The guys spent the night in the village of Liubotyn, and in the middle of the night they heard explosions in Kharkiv. In the morning they went home, and at almost 21:00 the volunteers were in Boryslav.
